Bosch PRO GDS18V-450H is an 18 V brushless cordless impact wrench for tightening and loosening M10–M20 bolts and nuts. The maximum tightening torque is 450 Nm and the loosening torque is 800 Nm. It is suitable for metalworking shops, locksmith work, industrial assembly, framing and vehicle maintenance, for example.
The tool offers five speed settings and four screwdriving modes. The five torque settings are 200, 280, 330, 380 and 450 Nm. Secure Socket Release (SSR) helps prevent the socket from getting stuck on the bolt. Time-based shut-off stops the tool after a set time, while Auto Bolt Release (ABR) stops rotation when loosening a nut to prevent it from falling off the thread. STOP mode has five sensitivity settings.
The tool has a ½-inch square drive with a friction ring and through-hole, as well as a user interface, status indicator, LED light and belt clip. The 169 mm-long head and 1,6 kg weight without battery support comfortable handling. The set includes an L-BOXX 136, two EXBA18V-40 batteries and a GAL 18V-40 charger.
The tool is compatible with batteries and chargers from the Bosch Professional 18 V system, as well as AMPShare batteries.
Impact-rated sockets and bits must be used with the ½-inch square drive.
The GAL 18V-40 charger included in the set has a charging current of 4,0 A and automatically detects the charging voltage for 10,8–18 V batteries.
The actual tightening torque depends, among other things, on the stiffness of the joint and the materials. Check the achieved tightening torque with a torque wrench.
When driving large and long screws into hard material, drill a pilot hole with a diameter matching the thread's inner diameter and a depth of about two thirds of the screw length.
After extended use at a low speed, let the tool run idle at maximum speed for about three minutes to cool down.
Clean the ventilation slots regularly; accumulated metal dust can cause electrical hazards.
The permitted operating and storage temperature for the tool is –20 to +50 °C, but performance is limited below 0 °C. For charging, the manual recommends a temperature of 0 to +35 °C.
