The non-contact AC voltage indicator detects the presence of voltage in an insulated wire and also in its vicinity. The presence of voltage is indicated by a red LED, an audible signal and an LCD screen.

The tester works on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The closer the voltage source, the greater the frequency of the indicator.
When switched on, the device operates in low sensitivity mode, where the frequency increases when the wire is touched. In high sensitivity mode, the frequency increases from a distance of about 1 cm from the wire.
The tester also allows to detect a break in an energized electrical cable "non-contact" - at the point of the break, the tester stops signaling the voltage.
